CAVALLIN, M. Linda (FORSMAN)

Our family announces with great sadness the passing of Linda May Cavallin (Forsman) on Good Friday, April 18th at the age of 71 after a brave battle with cancer. Linda was born in Golden Valley on January 5, 1943, the daughter of Einar and Rose Forsman (both predeceased). Linda will be remembered lovingly in so many ways, most significantly for her love of children. She came alive when surrounded by their joy and ‘joie de vivre’, and for this reason her devotion to education was an integral part of her life. Reading aloud to her students was among her favourite teaching moments. She was greatly admired and respected by her grandchildren. Seeking and cherishing individual time, Linda developed a unique connection and a sincere friendship with each child. The loss of our treasured Nana is felt deeply. Linda shared her time generously with family and friends and valued long lasting relationships, taking a few of us deep into her heart and loving us dearly. Although she was naturally a private person, she was known for her social graces and genuine nature. Linda’s favourite times with Ed were spent when on holiday. Most of all, she loved the quiet, alone time they shared when away; daily walks in Florida, wine and reading mid-afternoon, touring Portugual in a ‘small’ car and stopping for lunch spontaneously. Linda lived her life fully and without regret. Recently, when asked about her bucket list, she thought and concluded, “There is nothing, really. I have enjoyed a good life.” Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Edward Cavallin, their 3 children and 10 grandchildren: Tara (Joseph Hurley and children Alexander (predeceased) Karl, Michael & Aidan), Sean Cavallin (Brenda and children Arthur, Louis, Norah & Linnea) all of Sudbury and Anthony Cavallin (Shannon Bisset and children Cael & Ella) of Midhurst. Sister of Ellen (Chuck Hunt and children Deborah & Steven), Ruth (predeceased), Shirley (Bernie Hopkins), Christine (Robert Evers and children Stephanie & Alyssa), Richard (Sherry with children Courtney & Adrienne). Daughter-in-law to Siro & Louisa Cavallin (both predeceased). Sister-in-law to Norman Cavallin (Elda and children Randy, Marissa, Vivian & Terry) and Jean (Robert D’Aloisio and children Mary-Louise, Paula, David, Gina, Paul & John). Best friend of the Kurdells, Sekeraks, Fredettes, Phipps, Medinas, Candussos, DelBoscos & Macorittos. Visitation at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Easter Sunday, April 20th. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, 39 Walford Road, on Monday, April 21st at 11:30am with interment at Park Lawn Cemetery immediately afterwards. Lunch to follow. As Linda delighted in the beauty of flowers for 71 years, she has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to these charities: St. Patrick’s Church Cool Campaign, Northern Cancer Foundation or the wonderful Maison Vale Hospice.
