HOLLA, Sigrid (Makela)

In loving memory of Sigrid (Makela) Holla It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the loss of Sigrid Holla, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and beloved friend. On Sunday morning, July 20th, 2014, Sigrid joined her soul mate and love of her life Vaino Holla. They are now together with us in spirit. Beloved wife of 52 years of the late Vaino Elis Holla. Loving mother of Brenda Holla, Randy (wife Luanne) and Michael (wife Wendy predeceased). Cherished grandmother of Sean (wife Marissa), Robert (wife Brianna), Maija (husband Ian Lalonde), Maili (husband Christopher Hughson) and great grandmother to Linken, Laila, Aria and Kaden. Sigrid is predeceased by her mother Ida Makela (Oiva Westerback), her sisters Irene, Lily (Rudy Courville) and brother Oswald. Sigrid’s favourite pastimes were picking blueberries on her Black Lake hills, lovingly preparing traditional Finnish dishes for family and friends, spending time in years past at camp on Nepawassi Lake, walking the trails at her beloved homestead, gardening and singing with the Finnish Seniors Choir. She spent the last two years retired at Finlandia Village, receiving excellent care and attention from the staff and friends. We would like to express our extreme gratitude to the South Tower 6th floor Nursing staff at HSN for their kindness, compassion and care. In lieu of flowers donations to Finlandia Village – Finnish Rest home or Maison Vale Hospice would be appreciated by the family. There will be no funeral visitation or service, cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. A graveside committal service will be held at the Waters Cemetery, Lively.
