CERTOSSI, A. Marisa

It is with profound sadness that we bid peace and farewell to the best wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Marisa Anne Certossi left us on July 23rd after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 53 years young and lived her life to the fullest surrounded by love. Marisa leaves behind her husband, the love of her life, Alberto Certossi, her mom, Amelia Smania (Reno predeceased), her sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Wayne Hartley, her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kerri-Lynne Smania, her brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Linda Smania. She was the beloved daughter-in-law of Nella and Giorgio Certossi, sister-in-law to Susie and Bernie Girard, and sister-in-law to Stephen and Jennifer Certossi. When we say she was the best aunt ever, we truly mean it! She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her precious nieces and nephews, Michael and Katrina (Kynan Cappuccino) Hartley, Alyssa and Cameron Smania, Alena and Janessa Smania and Jonah and Dylan Certossi. She will also be sadly missed by Marc and Lyne Girard and Lynne and Richard Snider as well as their children Hallie, Zachary and Michael. Marisa was the special god-daughter of Nori and Bruno Smania. Marisa was part of a large circle of family and friends and will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Marisa had a full career teaching at Cambrian College and was truly respected by her students and colleagues over the years. Marisa was involved with various charities having served as Regional President for the Canadian Cancer Society. Marisa was known as a loving, giving, amazing individual and has touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be reunited with her dear dad, Reno Smania who passed in December of 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Cambrian College Bursary in honour of Marisa would be appreciated. Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 2-9 p.m. Friday) Funeral Mass in Holy Redeemer Church, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury Saturday, July 26th, 2014 at 10am Cremation with entombment at the Civic Cemetery.
