In Loving Memory of Helen Angelina (Berta) Toivonen Thursday, August 21st, 2014 at Health Sciences North. Beloved daughter of Louis and Amalia Berta predeceased. Loving wife of Richard Toivonen. Dear mother of Ilona Toivonen and Dianne Buskard (Tyler). Cherished grandmother of David, Chrisanne, Taryn and Easton. Helen was an accomplished artist in many media including painting and needlework. She was proud of her involvement with the creation of Sudbury Secondary School’s Performing Arts Program where she taught Visual Arts. She was a passionate gardener, having garnered recognition by the Sudbury Horticultural Society for her First Place in the “INCO Garden Competition” in 2005. The gardens were also recognized by the City of Sudbury in the “Best Bloomin’ Yard Competition”. Her gardens were listed in Patricia Singer’s Great Gardens to Visit: A Guide to Ontario’s Outstanding Private Gardens. Helen loved to travel to the Caribbean and Europe, where she visited relatives in Hungary, and to flower shows – Toronto’s “Canada Blooms”, Philadelphia’s “International Flower Show”, and London, England’s “Chelsea Flower Show”. She was most passionate about the time she spent with her four grandkids. Helen was an accomplished dancer, pianist, and choreographer and set designer for the many musicals at Garson-Falconbridge Secondary School and Sudbury Secondary School. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sudbury Horticultural Society would be appreciated. Funeral Visitation at the
