BABIKER, E. M. Sheila (BEGG)

The family announces with deep sorrow her passing on Sunday, August 24th, 2014 at the age 74, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Oscar Fregonese. Loving mother of Liela (Vince Fortunato), Susan (Doug Doe), Nadia (Roy Steinebach) and Stephanie (Shawn Morrison). Dear daughter of Marion and George Bradford (predeceased) and James Begg (predeceased). Cherished younger sister of Patricia (Robert Gow) and Gordon Begg (Brenda). Her spirit lives on in her ten grandchildren Brianna, Jenna, Julia, Naomi, Tevis, Kevin, Chloe, Jacob, Evan and Carly. Also sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and loyal pup Fergus. Sheila was born in Clackmannan, Scotland on April 22nd, 1940 and immigrated to Canada in 1971 where she made Sudbury, ON her home for over 40 years. She was a strong, proud mother and instilled a deep value system into her four daughters whom she dedicated her life to raising. Sheila was known for her fine needle work, knitting for Michelle’s Wool Shop, charity organizations and friends. Many a grandbaby wore one of her beautiful jackets and bonnets. For the past 12 years, Sheila and Oscar travelled throughout Canada and the US in their RV. And more recently wintered in Naples, Florida where many great memories were created and deep friendships made. The family would like to thank Dr. Walton and the palliative care team, Jennifer at CCAC, the Bayshore nurses who visited and Dr. Cano. You all made this difficult journey that much easier with your kind, compassionate care of Sheila. Also, a special thanks to good friends, Frankie and Ann who visited faithfully, as well as her friends in LSM, Naples for keeping Sheila in their thoughts with their many cards. Sheila will be fondly remembered and never forgotten by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, on Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
