BURNS, Loulla-Belle 'Lou' (St. Jules)

In loving memory of Loulla-Belle  “Lou” Burns (nee St. Jules) December 5, 1933-September 10, 2014 Today Lou joins Leo, the love of her life. Daughter of Lucy McFarling and Alderic St. Jules (predeceased). Beloved mother of Peter (friend Kathleen), Colleen, Brenda (Brian McMahon), Michael (Gisele) and David (Kathy). Incredibly proud grandmother of Tyler (Katie), Brennan (friend Amy), Amanda, Christopher (Sarah), Tamara, Britny (Justin) and Logan. Grandmaman to Ethan and Ava. (in her own words, “my bucket list is now complete”). Beloved sister of Lillian Ross (Art) (both predeceased) and Dorian St. Jules. Cherished sister in law to Ken and Joan (both predeceased), Doreen (predeceased) and John Boucher, Bill (predeceased) and Joan, Irma, Pat Beaudry (Claire), Harvey Reid (Rita), Jerry Kervin (predeceased) and Leona, Rodney (Ginette), Steven (Diane), Raymond (predeceased), Jane, Betty (predeceased), Carol-Ann (Ron Jacobs), John (Candy) and Paul.  She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews.   Lou’s great love of her life was her family. Her capacity for unconditional love was her greatest gift to her children and grandchildren. She was happiest surrounded by her family, gently giving wise counsel and supplying her unmatched homemade baked goods. You could always count on your favourites being made when you came home to visit. She was committed to her church, and her Catholic Women’s League sisters (the posse). She was a Eucharistic Minister, delivering the sacrament to shut-ins. She recently received her 50 year pin with CWL, many of these years spent as President and other executive posts. The position for which she had the most passion was convener of “Community Life”. Countless disadvantaged people benefited from her tireless efforts to see them fed and warm. Lou spent a lifetime of volunteerism with Boy Scouts of Canada where she went on to become District Commissioner long after her boys had left the scouting movement. Mom’s faith allowed for her final hours to be spent unafraid and at peace as she anticipated her reunion with loved ones who passed before her. This was a great gift to her family during her last moments.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Health Sciences North and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Lou’s meal time buddies at St. Joe’s for their continual kindness. Family and friends may gather at the Lougheed Funeral Home, Hanmer/Capreol Chapel, 4605 Michelle Dr. at Hwy 69N, Hanmer. Viewing will take place on Friday September 12, 2014 from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Kevin’s Church, 4610 Ste Therese St., Val Therese at Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at 11 AM. Donations in memory of Lou can be made to the Diabetes Association.
