GUILLET, Hubert 'Bert'

In Loving Memory of  Hubert “Bert” Guillet It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Hubert A. “Bert” Guillet at the age of 88 on September 16th, 2014 at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron after a long struggle with heart and vascular disease.  Bert was born April 15th, 1926 in Marcelin, Saskatchewan to Rene and Albertine (nee Allaire) Guillet, both predeceased. He moved to Ontario in 1937 with his parents, where they resided in Kapuskasing before moving to Sudbury in the early 1940’s.  He was a very loving and devoted husband and best friend to Frances Guillet. A proud and loving father, he was blessed with seven children, Robert (Cheryl) of Grimsby, Gérald of Val Caron, Donald of Wallaceburg, Paul and Raymond of Sudbury, Paulette Guillet (Marcel Labbé) of Hanmer and Louise Legris (Michel deceased) of Garson. He was a very proud and loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Loved by his extended family, step-daughter Sharon Windus, and a step-grandson of  Wisconsin.He will be greatly missed by his sister, Simone Brisebois (Maurice) of Sudbury, a brother Simon (Rachel) of Guilletville. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Noëlla Guillet. He was predeceased by three brothers, Léon, Gérard and Maurice (Lillian) and three sisters, Rita Pauzé, Éva Witiw and Doris Cunningham (Chester deceased) and one granddaughter and one great grandson. He will also be missed by several brothers and sisters in law of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. He was very devoted to his wife and family and loved the family gatherings. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and loved to play golf. He was very active in many sports and Community affairs. He spent two years in the Military Service after which he joined the Sudbury Police Force. After 36 years of working his way up the ranks he retired in December 1982 as Deputy Chief of the Sudbury Regional Police Department. He was a member of the Order of Canada, a Second World War Veteran and a very proud and active member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 76 of Sudbury. Bert will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Funeral Visitation at the Lougheed Funeral Home Hanmer/Capreol Chapel 4605 Michelle Drive, Hanmer (Friends may call 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Friday, Legion Service 7:30 P.M.) Funeral Mass at St. Kevin’s Church, Val Therese Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Interment in the Valley East Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Sudbury Food Bank would be appreciated.
