With deep sadness the family announces his passing on September 20th following a lengthy illness. Beloved father of Steve (Tanis),  Nancy (Larry), & Greg. Brother of Ruth Ferguson, Dodie Flumerfelt, and Gary (predeceased). Proud grandfather of Jude (Sheila), Vance (Holly), Curtis and Jesse, and great grandfather of Julian.  Loving husband of Jean.   Also missed by Milo & Bailey.  Pre-deceased by mother Doris, father Stephen, son Adam, and the mother of his children, Maureen.    Steve enjoyed a successful baseball career, both amateur and professional. As a power pitcher, he set many records in the maritimes, leading to him signing a contract with the Boston Braves organization.  Steve eventually re-located to Sudbury, where, after a brief stint in the mines, he became a police officer. He retired in 1988, having risen to the rank of Inspector.  Steve spent the majority of his retirement years in Elliot Lake. His love of baseball never waned.  Deep-felt appreciation to Dr. Siddiqui, Dr. Long, Sylvie, Bailey, Barry and all the nurses and others on the palliative team who made the last part of Steve’s journey so comfortable.  Your palliative program is to be emulated.  Special thanks to Joan for the lovely gifts of music he enjoyed so much, the neighbours who watched out for him, and to all at the Fireside, where he relished the pickerel, mashed, a glass of house red, and your warm company.  A celebration of Steve’s life will be held next spring.
