On Thursday, December 11, 2014 with his loving family by his side, Gregory Lucien Ransom peacefully passed away at the age of 74. As written by his grandson, Dylan “On this day, the Ransom family lost a member that has affected so many people in the best way possible, always putting everyone before himself and teaching his children and all his grandchildren the same”. Greg is survived by his wife Sandra (nee Turcotte) of 53 years and his four children, Scott (Ron), Lianna (Ray), Chris (Sandra), and Lance (Janice). He loved spending time with his seven grandchildren, Bradley (Alison), Jessica (Shawn), Jeremy, Dylan, Haley, Miranda, and Britney and two great grandchildren Noah and Darcy. Son of Lucien and Evelyn Ransom (Brennen) stepmother Jean (Hubert) all predeceased. Brother to Betty (Teddy) Goudreau (predeceased) Raymond (Marie), predeceased Clifford predeceased (Cindy), Evelyn predeceased (Rheal) Sarazin, Richard (Wanda) Sandra, Ken (Marie). He will be sadly missed by his brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Greg was born in Sudbury February 1st 1940, but resided in Wahnapitae most of his life. He retired from Falconbridge after 31 years. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family especially at the camp in West Arm. He was a great carpenter and always took great pride in his many projects. He was a fountain of knowledge for everyone in his life. No matter if it was building a home or needing a couch to crash on, he supported his friends and family. He and his lifelong friend Raymond Hurd always tried to solve the problems of the world having their morning coffee. You will never be forgotten, it is not a goodbye but a see you later, love you always, rest in peace Greg, Dad, Grampie and friend. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cano, Dr. Singh and the staff at the Cancer Centre. Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Friends may call 2-5; 7-9pm Sunday and after 10am Monday. Funeral Mass in Notre Dame de la Rivière Church, Wahnapitae, Monday, December 15th, 2014, at 11:30am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
