He went to high school in Germany and at 15 years of age he was recruited into the army where he was captured and put into an American prison camp for a short time. When released he completed high school and seeing no opportunity in his home, he came to Canada in 1952. He worked until he could go to the University of Toronto where he studied Electrical Engineering and Geology. After graduating he travelled across Canada working for mining companies. In 1975 he joined the staff of the Electronic Technology Department at Cambrian College in Sudbury. He taught a variety of courses at the college. He will be remembered for his insistence on a full understanding of technical subjects, theoretical foundation, as well as his dry sense of humor. In 1995 he retired, which allowed him to spend more time with his other interests, including European history, languages (he spoke 4), photography, model airplanes, and travel. He spent winters in Mexico, Oaxaxa, and in the summer he travelled to many places including seeing his family. He will be sadly missed by his friends in Canada. He will be buried in Germany This above all, to thine ownself be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man! W. Shakespeare.
