DEPENCIER, Elizabeth ""Betty (JENNINGS)

In loving memory of Elizabeth “Betty” Depencier (nee Jennings), 86 years who passed away on June 29, 2015. She is survived by her children Fred Depencier (Val Depencier), Bonnie Depencier (Lou Dotta), and Jennifer Depencier (Shawn Burke), proud grandmother of Robert, Michael, Jessica, Jocelyn, David, and Liam. She is predeceased by her parents Richard and Annie (nee Hanlan) Jennings. Betty is also survived by her sister Noreen Davidson (Don Pagnutti) of Sudbury. Memories are being shared by her nieces and nephews, many of whom lived with and spent summers with their Aunt Betty and Uncle Bob. Betty loved children and 'mothered' many of the Long Lake community children and her own nieces and nephews. “There are no bad children” was one of Betty's favourite sayings. Because of Betty's love of family and friends, the door was always open to their home. It was not uncommon to spontaneously have a house full of people for supper followed by an Irish style evening with singing and the playing of the harmonica, guitar, accordian, and even the spoons. Betty had a keen interest for modern politics and would insist that her children “kept up”. She indeed kept up with current events, actively fought injustice, and was proud of taking on city hall when the water wasn't fit to be drank. Betty will be remembered for being outspoken, her keen sense of humour, and her willingness to help someone in need.
