The family announces with sorrow, John’s passing at Pioneer Manor Sudbury, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the age of 91. Son of the late Anthony “Tony” predeceased (1966) and Helen (Jelenovic) Mihajic (1976). Beloved husband of 66 years to Mary Mihajic (Carr). Loving father of Ronald (Isabel), James, Nancy Lahaie (Edmond) and Peter. Proud grandfather of Karrie (Shawn), Greg (Dawn), Tracy (Robin) and Lisa. Great-grandfather of Sarah, Kayla, Hannah, Nova and Laurel. He will be sadly missed by his friends and extended family. John was born in Croatia on the island of Krk. He immigrated to Canada when he was 14. He met and married his beloved wife Mary in Niagara Falls and they moved to Levack where he worked for INCO as an electrician for 42 years. He was well-liked and respected in his community. He was a sports lover, both as a spectator and a participant. In the past, he played baseball, golf, pool, bocce, was a great bowler and always loved competition. He was an active member of St.Bartholomew’s Church, was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, and enjoyed spending time at the Golden Age Club with friends. Most of all, it was being with family and grandkids, that gave him his greatest joy. In keeping with John’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 at 1 p.m. in St. Bartholomew Church, Levack. Reception to follow after mass.
