Joseph Boniface Cote June 5, 1925 Glace Bay NS – February 6, 2016 Peacefully at Health Sciences North with his family by his side. Loving adored father of Julia (Eric) Oshawa, Victor (Connie) London, Earl (Margaret) Garson, Brenda (Dan) North Bay, Tim (Vicky) Garson, Sharon (Jim) Winnipeg. Grandfather to 15 and a Great- grandfather to 15. Predeceased by his wife Gladys Pate (married 68 years), daughter Penny (Gord) and a baby son. Joseph was also predeceased by his parents Alfred and Mary (Mullins) Cote, siblings Bernie, Louis, Evelyn Roberts, Arnold, Cecil (WWll), and Richard. He was a veteran of WWll- serving his country in Europe. He worked in the mines for Falconbridge for many years and was a custodian at Eden Public School until his retirement. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist for 61 years, was a member of the Holy Name Society, sang in the Christmas Church Choir when younger and he looked after St. John’s Cemetery in Garson for a time. Dad was a volunteer at many causes all his life. He was always willing to help others, was a person who never complained and he tried to see the best in everyone. Dad’s greatest pleasures were his large family and watching his sports. Joseph was a good husband, provider, father, carpenter and advisor. He had a great sense of humour and loved to sing, play the harmonica, scrabble and golf. Joseph worked hard for his family throughout his life and will be sadly missed. Funeral Visitation in Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 6pm-8pm Tuesday). Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 255 Church Street, Garson Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 at 2pm. Interment in the family plot at St. John Cemetery. Donations can be made to St. John the Evangelist Church in Garson, the Parkinson Society of Canada or charity of your choice.
