In loving memory of Francis (Frank) Gordon Black, 95 years, who passed away peacefully Thursday, April 17th 2014 at Health Sciences North. Survived by his wife, Mary Jean of 63 years, his children, Gordon, and Mary Ellen (David) and 5 grandsons, James (Melanie), Michael (Kelley), Jeffery (Jill), Adam and Scott. Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on August 12th, 1918, and after serving in World War II for 5 ½ years, he married Mary Jean and together they moved to Sudbury where Frank worked at INCO retiring in 1978. Frank was quite proud to joke that he was retired longer than most people worked. Frank was known to many as a “jack of all trades”, fabulous gardener and being the first to step up to lend a helpful hand. No task was too small from sweeping a neighbour’s driveway nor too large from building a new home for himself and Mary Jean at the age of 75. Frank was greatly admired and respected by his grandsons whom he loved dearly. Family gatherings which include the lobster feasts will not be the same without poppa. A special thank you from Frank’s family to all staff at HSN South Tower 6th Floor. At the request of Frank there will be no visitation nor service. Donations to The War Amps or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
