In Loving Memory of Edwin Lahti 88 years Sunday, July 20th, 2014 at Health Sciences North. Beloved husband of Ellen (Riutta) Lahti. Loving father of David (Laurie) and Nancy (Stuart Sirkka). Cherished grandfather of Olivia, Carla and Madison. Dear son of Toivo and Saima Lahti both predeceased. Dear brother of Evelyn (Allan Johnson) of Beaver Lake, predeceased by Elvi (Cecil Fielding), Ensio “Jack” (Margaret of Saskatchewan), Eugene (Julie of Beaver Lake), Elsie, Elmer (Imelda of Sudbury), Leila, Laila and Eila. Dear brother – in – law of Kay (Edward Gluta) of Guelph and Allan (Elvi) of Sault Ste. Marie. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Levack he married Ellen in Copper Cliff in 1955. Edwin worked as a machinist for over 40 years, 32 at INCO. He served with the Canadian Army Artillery during World War ll. He was an active member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church where he lived his faith and enjoyed the fellowship. In younger days, he played softball and kept a passion for dancing, fishing cross country skiing and spending time at Lake Panache. He was a skilled carpenter and a wonderful artist. Edwin was devoted to his family, especially his granddaughters whom he loved watch at hockey or any of their activities. Funeral Service in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at 11:30 am (Friends may call 5 – 8 pm Wednesday or after 10:30 am Thursday) Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematory. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund, St. Timothy’s Memorial Fund or a Charity of your choice would be appreciated
