BECKING, Dorothy (KEEPER)

In Loving Memory of Dorothy Becking (nee Keeper) 87 years Peacefully, Monday, September 29th, 2014 at Health Sciences North with loving family at her side.  Beloved wife of Fred Becking predeceased 1982. Loving mother of Kimberley (husband Kerry Piccinetti). Cherished grandmother of Michael (Becky), Andrew (Robyn) and Heather (Alessio) and her best feline friend Princess. Dear daughter of Eli and Elizabeth Keeper predeceased. Dear sister of Rose, Teddy, Nick, Alex, Michael, Mary and Evelyn all predeceased and half brothers John and Billy. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was born in Roblin, Manitoba. She moved to Sudbury from Thunder Bay marrying Fred Becking in Sudbury in 1944. They owned and operated Lockerby Taxi and Kimberly Motors for many years. Dorothy loved life and lived it to the fullest having many activities which included, bingo, bowling, going to the casino, supporting the Toronto Blue Jays, travelling to Florida and watching her favourite T.V. programs – Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right and Dr. Phil. A proud Canadian, she was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 564, Lockerby. She will be remembered as a determined and independent person who lived on her own terms with a wonderful sense of humour and a daily commitment to traditional values. The light of her life will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.  The family expresses their appreciation to the HSN 8th Floor Cardiac Unit Staff for their excellent care and compassion and CCAC Nurses and PSWs that took such good care of her at home.  Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. Interment in the family plot at the Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:30 A.M. Thursday.)
