In Loving Memory  of  Dennis John Butler 84 years who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Sunday October 12th, 2014 at Health Sciences North.   Beloved husband of Ruby (nee Rollins) Butler of 58 years of Sudbury. Loving father of Philip of Elliot Lake, Teina Pitawanakwat (Jeff) of Manitowaning and Gary of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Cody, Jayden, Victoria and Jacob. Dear brother of Doris Berndt (late Doug) of Buckingham, Alvin (Ellen) of Buckingham, Mervin (Eileen) of Buckingham, Vivian Lamarche (late Joe) of Gatineau, P.Q., Lorraine McDermid (late Lyall) of Thurso, P.Q., Monica Lafrance (Bob) of Nova Scotia, Ginny Sellers (late John) of Buckingham, Betty Dunlop (late Andy) of Mount Pearl, Nfld. Predeceased by his parents Alec and Julia (nee Miller) Butler, brothers Leo (late Frances) and Cletus (late Debbie). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by the Rollins family. Born in Buffalo, New York, Dennis came to Canada at the tender age of 3 ½ years. He grew up on a farm where hard work was the norm. Winters were spent in the bush cutting wood. Dennis was a volunteer Fire Fighter in Garson for 23 years. Dependable and trustworthy, he and a friend were put in charge of building the Fire Hall out on Constance Lake. Dennis worked well with his neighbours and enjoyed helping everyone. He coached hockey and helped clean the rink. He loved spending time at his camp on Constance Lake near Ironbridge. He was an avid sports fan enjoying the Toronto Maple Leafs as well as the Blue Jays, spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, motorcycling and snowmobiling. He loved reading, playing guitar (especially The Cat Came Back), singing, building houses and family gatherings. He was a devout Roman Catholic. He loved his family, his relatives and friends sharing with great joy his many stories. Special Thanks to Tara and Butch, the Rollins family, friends and the Health Sciences North staff especially the 4th floor Palliative Care Unit.  Cremation at Park Lawn Crematorium.  Donations to the Sudbury Food Bank would be appreciated. Memorial Mass at St John the Evangelist Church, Church St. Garson at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
