BEST, A. Amy (FAIRSERVICE)

It is with heavy hearts but treasured memories that we say goodbye to our dear and wonderful Mum and Nan who passed away peacefully on November 15, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Bay Ridges Home in Pickering. Amy was born April 25, 1922 in New Richmond, Quebec to parents Alexander and Edith (Brown), both predeceased. After moving to Montreal Mum would meet this handsome young man, Wesley Best. They were married June 23, 1942. Mum and Dad settled in Coniston where Dad was working for Inco. Mum’s faith was strong and she soon became involved in St. Andrew’s United Church in Coniston, where she was a member for over 60 years. She could always be found helping with dinners and of course baking for bake sales. Amy had a heart of gold with a warm smile and she was the most loving, thoughtful and caring person, always thinking of others first and never asking for anything in return. She was such a genuine, sincere, down to earth woman, whose strength and guidance has carried us through life. Her entire life was spent helping others and she was truly an angel, looking after Dad when he was sick, as well as many others who were sick. She would just show up with baking in her hands to comfort them, and was a joy to be around. After the death of Wesley, Amy embarked on a new chapter in her life and found employment at Robert Brown’s and Birks. She cherished her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart and they also loved and adored her. Mum’s family was the light of her life. Beloved wife of the late Wesley Best predeceased March 10, 1971. Adored mother of Zelda Dixon (Murray) and Susan Roberts. Cherished “Nan” to Brent (Maria), Heather, Andrew (Jen) and Matthew. Her great grandchildren, Sophia, Ava, Jorja, David, Alexis and William, truly adored “Nan”. Beloved sister of Lena Mangold and Mae Fairservice of Oshawa. Predeceased by sisters Isabel Hardy, Jean Best, Elsie MacFayden and brothers James and Robert. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews and she will be greatly missed by her special friend Ellen MacLean, who was like a daughter to her. Mum, you always added that extra sparkle to everything. It won’t be the same without you. We will cherish your memory forever and ever. Special thank you to ALL the wonderful, caring and dedicated staff at Bay Ridges Home in Pickering for taking good care of our dear mother for the last three years. You will all miss her smile and waves. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Visitation Wednesday November 19th, 2014 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral Service in St. Andrew’s United Church in Coniston on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 at 2pm. If desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Please reflect on how kind Mum was and be kind to one another. “And she will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”. Psalm 23
