In Loving Memory of Harland “Fin” Findlay who passed at the age of 79 on Tuesday, April 21st, 2015 at the Maison Vale Hospice with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Shirley (Peever) Findlay. Loving father of Francis Findlay, Nancy Wickham, Sandra Henderson (Ron) and predeceased by his son Terrance. Cherished Poppa of Jaime Villeneuve (Stephan), Jessica Henderson (John), Lindsay Henderson and special great grandson Pascal Villeneuve. Dear son of Leslie and Audrey Findlay both predeceased. Born in Richmond, Quebec, Fin worked as a manager of investigation with Canada Man Power. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather who always put his family’s needs before his own. Fin was happiest spending time at “camp” on the French River and in the winter with his “family of friends” in Florida. He was a true blue Maple Leaf Fan, but his real passion was curling. He inherited his love of the game from his parents and passed it down to his family. He started coaching in 1978 at the Coniston Curling Club and was proud that his daughters, Nancy and Sandra, were part of the team that went to Provincial Playdowns. He continued to coach men’s and women’s junior teams for several years. His finest curling achievement was acquiring and co-hosting the National Pepsi Junior Curling event at the Garson arena in 1990. Special thanks to the CCAC staff who allowed Fin to stay at home and to his Nurse Practitioner, Claire Warren, for her kindness and compassion. A celebration of Fin’s life will be held at the R.J. Barnard Chapel Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury Friday, April 24th, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. (Friends may call 4-6 P.M. Friday) Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Ontario Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
