It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a very special spirit from our midst. “Madame Nicole” lost her battle with a very aggressive brain tumor on April 25th, 2015. Nicole is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Hannu, daughter Seija of Chengdu, China and Mark (fiancée Kaitlyn Stewart) of Guelph. Nicole will be missed by her brother Jean Boyer of Parry Sound, nieces Sarah of London, Anne of Orillia and nephew Stephan. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Reina Boyer of Sturgeon Falls and brother Richard of Gatineau, Quebec. Nicole was a passionate elementary school teacher for 32 years with the Rainbow Board, retiring in 2009. She traveled extensively, from Cape Town to the Great Wall of China and many places in between. She was a devoted practitioner of Fung Loy Kok Tai-Chi and loved going to the centre in Orangeville to meet new friends. The family will be planting some linden trees there, this summer, in her memory. Nicole was also an avid gardener. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds feed on her calla lilies, sipping a “spritzer dear”. At Nicole’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. There will be a celebration of her life at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Nicole had requested a donation to the charity of your choice. A heartfelft thank you from Nicole’s family and friends to all the dedicated people at the Palliative Unit of 4N, HSN, the North East Cancer Centre and Warm Hearts. Your care and compassion helped us all, through a very difficult time.
