Joseph ""Bepi"" Polano, beloved husband of Barbara (DeStefano) for 53 years, passed away peacefully on April 24 at HSN. On his final journey he was surrounded by the ones he lived for, laughed with, and loved. Bepi was born in Sudbury on May 1, 1936 to Joseph and Theresa (predeceased). He was also predeceased by his bothers Benny (wife Mary) and Gary (wife Judy) and sister Rose (Ziti) (husband Robert) and is survived by his sister Mary (Meme). Dear brother-in-law to Richard and Maureen, Kathy, Ronny (predeceased) and Vicky. He attended Michigan State University on a hockey scholarship where he received his BA and later his MA. An excellent hockey player, he remained a proud life long Spartan and loved attending many special alumni events. On his return to Sudbury, he began his teaching career (St. Charles, Garson Falconbridge, Nickel District, North Eastern). A large part of his life was coaching hockey which he loved and he continued to assist and support the St. Charles Cardinals right to the end. His friends were a mainstay in his life and their support and caring meant so much to him. He loved a party and everyone loved to party with him. He will be sadly missed by his two loving sons Derek (partner Bonny and her daughter Quinn) and Jason (fiancée Lynn) and his grandson Tristan. He was so proud of their accomplishments and the men they had become. His many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends and his loving companion ""Butter"" will all miss him dearly. A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday April 30th at 10:30am at Our Lady of Hope church. Friends may visit Wednesday April 29th at the Jackson and Barnard funeral home from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm. Donations to the Sam Bruno PET Scanner Fund would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to all of those who cared for Bepi in his final days.
