In Loving Memory of Esaias (Esa) Kustaa Finni April 1st, 1926 – May 24th, 2015. Beloved husband of Eeva (Eva) Maria (Kosola) Finni. Loving father of Leila (Richard Boyd) of Sherwood Park, AB. and Leonard (friend Anita) of Wahnapitae. Cherished Pappa to Ian Boyd (Linda) and Kirsten (Greg Hamilton) of Sherwood Park, AB., and Great Pappa to Bobbi, Parker, Gage and Henrik. Dear son of Juha (Hannes) Jalmari and Maria Amanda Renko both predeceased. Dear brother of Eeva Kaisa (Kaisu) Rinas, Erkki Finni predeceased 2008 and half-brother to Tapani Renko of Finland, Henry Finni predeceased 1997, Saara Luomanen of Finland and step-brother of Anja Sonkson of Dowling. Nephew of Kerttu of Finland, aunt Sylvia and aunt Irja both predeceased of Canada and aunt Alma predeceased of Finland. Sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews in Finland and Canada and many many dear friends. Esa was born in Kauhava, Finland, came to Canada in January 1949. He served in the army at the age of 18. In Finland he also worked on the railways. He first worked on the telegraph lines, was a miner for many years and eventually as a carpenter as a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. He was definitely a master craftsman building several homes, cottage, swings and innumerable other projects. In 1952 he married Eeva, his spouse and partner for sixty-two years. They have two children Leila and Leonard. Esa had a small farm with cows, pigs and chickens. He farmed the land growing hay, wheat and rye to make their own bread flour. Esa had a great zest for life. He enjoyed going to camp, fishing, playing his mandolin and singing, dancing, gardening, picking blueberries, telling stories and generally having fun. In his final years he enjoyed living at Finlandia and taking part in as many activities as possible. He was quick to lend a hand wherever he could. Funeral Service in the Lougheed Funeral Home 252 Regent Street at Hazel Street Saturday, May 30th, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery (Friends may call 2-5 P.M. Friday only and after 10:30 A.M. Saturday) In lieu of flowers, donations to Finlandia Sisu Foundation or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated
