In Loving Memory of Douglas “Doug” Francis O’Connor 65 years Suddenly, Thursday, July 30th, 2015 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury Beloved husband of Florence (Elsasser) O’Connor. Loving father of Sean (Tammy), Kimberley and Ashley. Cherished grandfather and best friend of Easton. Dear son of Frank and Claudine O’Connor both predeceased. Dear brother of Lawrence, Pat (Janet), Kathleen (Al), Melanie (Sheldon), Melissa (Rob) and predeceased by both Tootsie (Walter). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Creighton, Doug served as a Mine Ventilation Specialist with Vale and Rio Algom for over 30 years and as a consultant for the past 3 years. Doug proudly served 3 years with the Irish Regiment 2nd Battalion Pipe Band, Lively and continued his love of the pipes in both the Elliot Lake Royal Canadian Legion Branch 561 Pipe Band and the Sudbury Regional Police Pipe Band. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Coniston and Mine Rescue Teams in both Elliot Lake and Creighton. Doug was a model train enthusiast and a big fan of CFL football and NASCAR. He was a believer in donating blood as well as being an organ donor. Doug was a skilled handy man, enjoyed travel and was a wonderful cake maker. He enjoyed telling a good story and always shared his special sense of humour. Doug will be lovingly remembered for his big heart and his caring presence with family and friends.
