Lorena Lewis, the daughter of Alfred and Dora Meawasige died on November 20, 2015 in her home in Serpent River First Nation, ON. Lorena was born in Serpent River First Nation and was the eldest of nine siblings. She is the beloved wife to Frank Lewis of 63 years. Lorena is mother to Adele, Mark, Keith, and Rick all predeceased; she leaves behind her two daughters, Cheryle and Jackie. She was also a mother figure to many others. Lorena was a proud grandmother to 15 and proud great-grandmother to 20. Lorena was the first woman Chief of the Serpent River First Nation (SRFN) and served as the Community Health Representative for many years. Lorena worked hard to provide for her family to ensure they didn't go without. She was a selfless woman and her family meant the world to her. Lorena was incredibly kind, caring, strong and had a great sense of humour. Wake services will be at the SRFN Community Centre on Tuesday, November 24 at 2pm. Funeral service will be on Thursday, November 26 at 11am at Our Lady of the Highway Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home, Sudbury. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
